 BGIL autumn 2011

A weekend with a twist, this two day class is designed to take intermediate* beadmakers to a new level, first making beads, and then turning them into gallery-quality jewellery.

You'll spend the first day making coordinated beads using a wide range of techniques, incorporating shaping, surface decoration and presses using a number of different mandrel types, including button and big hole. Going beyond just making sets and focals, you'll finish the day with a whole collection unified by colour and theme.

The second day is spent making beautiful jewellery with your beads, and includes techniques for designing and fabricating your own findings and using them to create a whole collection ranging from earrings and pendants to a fibula and bracelet. Students wishing to upgrade from copper to sterling silver can do so for an additional fee.

George Harper East and I have developed this course especially for lampworkers looking to add another dimension to their work.

Small class size means you'll get lots of individual attention.  Course takes place in The Lusherie in Malvern, Worcestershire, WR14 2RG.

Minimum 3 students

Maximum 4 students

Course fee includes tuition for two days; all materials including gas and glass on the first day, wires on the second day; cooked lunch on both days; refreshments throughout.  All tools will be provided.  See my Links page for contact details of some local B&Bs.

by george, it's Lush! bracelets and rings!

The November class was fantastic!  Take a look at my photos here and a great blog post by Lizzy, one of our super duper students.

*Intermediate: please don't be put off by this word!  As long as you have some experience of lampwork beadmaking, you should have the skills needed for this class.  Do contact me if you're unsure.  If you have previously taken a beginner class with me, you should be ready for "by george, it's Lush!"

However, this class is not suitable for students who haven't made any beads before - contact me to arrange a one to one session instead.
